The Gallagher's, a large, poor Irish-American family, live in Chicago's South Side. The patriarch of the family, Frank, is an alcoholic and drug addict. The mother, Monica, an addict struggling with a bi-polar condition, skipped town. It's up to Fiona, the oldest daughter, to keep the family together and prevent social services from splitting her siblings up into separate homes. It's a struggle. Every day, Fiona tries to retain her sanity and make enough money to pay the bills, keep food on the table and a roof over their heads while struggling to offset Frank's never-ending screw-ups and the normal and abnormal behaviors of her younger brothers and sister. |
