Based on William Shakespeare's The Taming Of The Shrew, Kiss Me, Kate is a show within a show, with the cast performing a musical rendition of the classic while handling their own conflicts off stage. The original Broadway production won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 1949 and its 1999 revival won Best Revival of a Musical. In 2015, the original cast recording was inducted into the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry.
